Trim work that makes the whole house feel finished

Crown molding is where you can tell who cut it. A tight inside corner. A cope that closes up all the way. A straight caulk line where the crown meets the ceiling. That's the difference between trim people notice and trim they walk right past.

This is the work TradeWinds Construction was built around. We install crown, casing, baseboard, chair rail, and full trim packages in homes from Melbourne down to Vero Beach. A lot of houses around here came from the builder with skinny 3-1/4 inch base and no crown at all. Swap in a taller baseboard and a properly sized crown and every room in the house reads different. You don't have to move a single wall.

We cut on site, cope our inside corners, and scribe to the walls you actually have. Florida block walls are almost never straight. Good trim absorbs that without showing it. That's the job.

What we handle

  • Crown molding, single-piece and built-up multi-piece profiles
  • Baseboard and casing upgrades, whole-house or room by room
  • Chair rail, picture rail, and door and window trim
  • Stain-grade and paint-grade work, prepped for a clean finish
  • Trim scaled to your ceiling height, not a one-size profile
On this coast

We know these houses

Ceiling heights swing a lot on this coast. You've got 8-foot block ranches in Sebastian and Micco, 10-foot great rooms in Viera, and 12-foot living rooms on the barrier island. We size the profile to the room so the crown looks like it was always there.

Questions we hear

Questions about crown molding & custom trim

Can you match trim that is already in part of the house?

Usually, yes. We carry profile gauges and can often match an existing crown or base from stock profiles, or build up a close match from two pieces. If something has to be custom-run, we'll tell you before anything gets ordered. No surprises on the invoice.

Do you install crown on tray and coffered ceilings?

Yes. Trays, coffers, and stepped ceilings are some of our favorite work. They're also where layout matters most, so we snap lines and dry-fit the corners before anything gets nailed.

Paint-grade or stain-grade, which should I pick?

Paint-grade poplar or primed material keeps the cost down and covers caulked joints. That suits most painted Florida interiors. Stain-grade hardwood shows every joint, so it costs more in material and labor both. We'll put samples of each in your hands and let you decide.
